TESCO - good news or bad news... you decide !

It now more or less confirm that TESCO will be in Bukit Jelutong by end of 2009. The site is currently being develop by Merge Housing Berhad at the BJ to Sg.Buluh exit.

We had a meeting with the representative from Merge Housing on 30th April 2008 to follow-up on some issues raised earlier. (by the way this is the 4th meeting between the RA and Merge Housing). It looks like not much progress achieved as most of the issues are still pending.

The residents are concern about traffic congestion once the project being complete. TESCO is expected to occupy some 60,000sq ft of floor area. There will be some mixed development of shop lots and a Budget hotel as well. Yup... a budget hotel.

The RA has requested for the followings :-
1. a traffic study to be conducted and presented to ensure the residents of the traffic flow.
2. sufficient number of parking bays allocated for the commercial centre to prevent overflow of vehicles seeking parking within the housing area. Answer : Requirement by authorities is 1036 lots of parking bays, Merger is allocating 1122 parking bays.
3. Location of Kongsi not within the development area.
4. to abide by the laws regulating working hours / upkeeping of cleanliness.
5. Obviously, we had also put on record our concern on the budget hotel activities as well...

By a letter from MBSA to the Project Contractor dated 30th April 2008, the Contractor are requested to reply on the following issues :-

Maklum balas hendaklah diserahkan selewat-lewatnya 14 Mei 2008.

Our next meeting with Merge Development will be a month from now. In the meantime, we 're seeking a meeting with MBSA to reiterate our concern on pending issues.

For now.....
